We are Paul and Laurie.
We are high school sweethearts, together since 1989, and we married in 1996. A lot of people tell us we are a unique couple because after 23 years of marriage and raising a child together, we not only still love each other, but we actually truly enjoy spending time together.
In 2018, Paul got wind of a passport book from the Florida State Park System, which includes all the parks with maps and information about each one. A native Floridian (imagine that!), he shared his excitement with Laurie, and she bought the passport book for Paul for Christmas. Then the planning was underway!
At the start of 2019, we set out to visit every park in the state. This is a journal of our experiences.
She is Laurie. Born in New York, and raised on Long Island until the age of 14 when she moved to Southeast Florida (where she later met Paul). She is an educator, a writer, and a lover of the natural world.
He is Paul. Born in Miami, and raised in Southeast Florida where he lived his entire childhood. He is a Water Manager, a Scouter, and a Conservationist.
Note: As we try to capture and share our journey, we decided everything is part of the experience. We plan to leave out few details, even when the going gets tough. Thank you for joining us on our adventure. We hop you enjoy the ride!
